Survival Caching - Myths And Mistakes
with Jeff Anderson from https://www.WarriorLife.com/
Myth 1: Caches Are Just For Doomsday
Preppers
• The main reason for having a survival cache
is so all your eggs aren’t in one basket.
• Think of it as an insurance policy if your
stockpiled supplies suddenly aren’t
available.
Myth 2: I Don’t NEED A Cache! No One Is
Going To Take My Stuff!
• I narrow caching down into 3 primary
purposes.
o Caches that are meant to help you GET to
safety (fuel, escape and evasion, etc.).
o Caches that KEEP you safe (basic
supplies).
o Caches that HIDE stuff you don’t want
found/stolen/confiscated (guns, money,
valuables).
-----------
• In a bugout, time is of essence and you may
not be able to grab your stuff.
• If there’s power, gas stations will be lined up
with angry people grabbing what they can.
• Highways become parking lots without fuel.
• A cache that contains fuel, oil, and some
basic supplies could be the only thing that
gets you there.
-----------
• If your home is destroyed, taking your stores
along with it, or you’re forced to
leave/evacuate, you have only limited
supplies you can take with you.
• Having cached food, water filtration, and
other essentials will make sure you have at
least SOME supplies to help you regroup.
-----------
• We all have valuables we wouldn’t want
taken from us.
• If you lost everything, where are your
backups? An ATM or bank is a no-go in a
crisis, so the only money you’ll have is what
you have on you.
• In a crisis, first-responders can’t take care of
you. You need valuable items like guns set
aside where you can get to them so that you
can protect yourself and your loved ones.
• Food and water is also critical, as you won’t
be able to “go shopping” when the balloon
goes up.
• There could be rioters, looters, and roving
gangs of predators, especially in urban
areas.
• Even your secret hiding locations can be
found. The only thing you have tucked away
could be what you have buried/cached.
Myth 3: Caches Are Too Hard For The
Common Person
• Caching containers are available to buy, but
there are even simple ones you can make
yourself.
• You do have to safeguard things and pick
the right stuff. You can’t just stick money,
guns, ammo, and food into a bucket and
bury it.
