THIS WEEK'S TRANSCRIPT
EPISODE 336 – "I Survived COVID-19" (How To Prep For This Illness)
6 of 7
• Having note pads and writing instruments
were important tools for me to record
questions for my doctors, keep up with
especially kind and caring hospital staff
member names, etc.
• I don't have all my bills handled by autopay.
While I could speak to my wife, I'd have felt
more comfortable if I'd had some key
account numbers, payment due-dates, and
customer service numbers included in a
separate group of hardcopy prints.
• I wished that I'd included a plastic trash bag
to cover my "grab and go" bag along with
small interior zip-loc bags for personal
items. Staff worked and cleaned the room
in isolation garb, but I'd have felt better with
extra protective layering.
• I would have liked to have had a "grab
stick" remote pick-up tool with me, as I'd all
too frequently drop a pen, knock my mask
on the floor, etc., and getting out of bed or
bending over to pick something up was
challenging.
• I experienced an unusual level of heartburn.
Good food, but spicier than I'm probably
used to. The doctor said that it could have
been aggravated by the COVID-19 and/or
by the oxygen therapy. Staff gave me
heartburn meds, but doctors may have
allowed OTC antacids. Another item you
might wish to have just in case.
• My main hearing aid died, and I wound up
just not using the other one. I say that
because I found myself with lots of times
alone in my thoughts as I'd sit on the edge
of the bed trying to breathe. I'm Catholic
and used much of the time to pray for
myself, my family, everyone at the hospital
doing their level best to battle the unseen
COVID-19, and a suffering America in
general. Wished I'd had a rosary with me —
perhaps a personal prayer book. Go with
whatever helps lift your spirits!
• Without a doubt, our front-line medical
personnel and EMS personnel/first
responders are truly living under "Warrior
Life" conditions. Please wear a mask, wash
your hands frequently, avoid unnecessary
crowd exposures, practice social-distancing,
and do your best to be part of
the solution, COVID-19 is no joke.
