Sneaky CIA Tricks To Stay Armed In
“No Gun Zones”
featuring Jason Hanson from https://www.spyescapeandevasion.com
Tactical Considerations For NPEs
No matter what, you want to have some kind of
gear or weapon on you.
• You obviously can’t get caught with a “real”
weapon in some locations or there will be
legal repercussions.
• Consider the “nut on a strong.” It looks like a
necklace but makes a powerful flail.
Separate the heavy nut from the paracord
for travel.
• Ramp up your awareness and be more
conscious of what’s around you. Use greater
caution, alternate routes, etc.
• Choose your route and environment so you
aren’t “under-protected.”
• Pick up a paring knife at a local store. These
are available almost everywhere and make
good expedient weapons.
The “Surprise NPE”
Sometimes you’re not carrying something you
can just ditch or throw away. “Surprise
checkpoints” can present unique problems.
• A rolled up magazine is a great self-defense
option. It is an excellent impact thrusting tool
and can go anywhere (but pick a boring
magazine, not a gun or knife magazine).
• Sometimes you can “palm” a pocketknife
and get past a security checkpoint... but
that’s not recommended.
Dealing With Security Checkpoints
You can’t rely on inconsistent security checks,
but sometimes they work for you. People may
stop looking after they find an item, but other
items remain in your possession.
• This is the same concept behind having
“ghost guns” and other “sacrifice guns” as
part of your firearms arsenal.
• If the gun grabbers show up at your door,
you give them the sacrifice gun(s) and keep
your “good” weapons hidden.
Improvised And DIY Weapons
Some legally allowed weapons or tools that
can become improvised weapons include...
• Flashlights make great striking tools.
• Tactical pens are good too, but sometimes
they do get recognized/confiscated.
• A gallon zipper baggie full of change makes
a great “blackjack” or “sap.”
• Aluminum soda cans can make sharp edges.
• Carbiners make good “brass knuckles.”
• Broken bottles are stabbing tools of opportunity.
Training For NPEs
You DON’T have to be defenseless!
• Practice with what you have on you and any
improvised weapons you plan to use.
• Mentally visualize available weapons/tactics.
